When we become aware that
one of our own has
hit bad times, it's the "Cowboy
Way" to come to their
rescue! Here
is a way you can Help Popps
and Big Mama!
"Popps" as
he's fondly known to us
in HRP, member #4, has been diagnosed
with cancer as you will
read below, and he is fighting
for his survival. "Big
Mama" his
better half and HRP member
#3, is in her usual fashion,
there for him 100%.
As
their friends and fellow HRP
members, we are going that
extra mile and offering them
as much love and support
as we can muster. But we can't
do this alone. We need your
help!
For this reason the members
in HRP voted to donate a firearm
and put it up for raffle immediately
to help raise funds for Popps
and Big Mama.
The
raffle is on-going until our
annual July match,
"Shootout at Horse Ridge
2008 - SASS Governor's Cup" -
July 24th - 27th. The raffle
Winner will be announced on
July 27th, 2008, during our
Awards Ceremony.

. "Hi,
we are Gary and Pat Popplewell.
We have been married 42
years, have one child,
Trish 39, a son in law
and three wonderful grandkids
and a 18 month old great
grandaughter. Just as we
start our "golden
years" Gary is diagnosed
with cancer. Now we open
a new chapter in our lives
with an uncertain future.
Gary
and I met when I was 18 and
he was 19. We married March
5, 1967 and three years later
had a baby girl. Gary was
in the Navy Reserves and
served two terms in Viet
Nam. Our daughter was a year
when he was out of the service.
We moved to Bend OR and have
enjoyed our life here ever
since. We both were volunteer
firemedice for 10 years,
he was a Reserve for the
local Police dept for 15
years and he owned his own
business until we realized
he was to sick to run in
this last Dec. 1. He didn't
have insurance so he never
went to the doc. I begged
him to have a colonoscopy
but he refused, using the
excuse he didn't have insurance.
That's all in the past now,
because we are dealing with
colon cancer, liver cancer,
cancer in the hip bone and
a large tumor on his back
above his butt cheek. Non
operable, but treatable.
Tomorrow he has his third
chemo. We are christians
and know we are on Gods time
schedule not ours so we are
living each day to it's fullest.
Gary is bedridden most of
the time, he can't sit down
because of the hip and butt.
My friend sent me this link
and said I needed to join
so here I am."
